The Great 28: Life Rules at Save Our Children
Based on The Essential 55 by Ron Clark and Franklin Elementary School's Teachers' Lessons for Life
- Respond to questions from adults by saying, "Yes Ma'am," or "No Sir."
- Make eye contact when speaking and listening to people.
- Congratulate a classmate when appropriate.
- Respect other's thoughts, ideas and opinions by listening and responding graciously if necessary.
- Do not brag about self, and do not show anger when you lose or do not get your way.
- Do not show disrespect with hand gestures or your body language.
- Say, "Thank you," and "You are welcome," when appropriate.
- Do random acts of kindness without expectations.
- Use complete sentences when responding in conversations.
- Do not ask for rewards or extra snacks or prizes.
- Do your homework.
- Transition into rooms quietly and orderly.
- Do not complain, whine or cry. Find solutions.
- Follow all expectations in all areas at Save Our Children.
- Respect the substitute even if tasks are done differently by the substitute.
- Do not save seats for others.
- Look away when others are being disciplined or having challenging moments.
- Make proper greetings by shaking hands and repeating their name.
- Take only your fair share of items.
- Pick it up if it should not be there and put things where they belong when you are finished.
- Do not interrupt the class by talking out of turn or misbehaving.
- Resolve problems peacefully and ask an adult to help when necessary--do not put hands on people.
- Do not bully people with words, body or facial expressions.
- Say, "Excuse me," and "I am sorry," even if you believe the other person was wrong or it was an accident.
- Be happy.
- Be honest.
- Try.
- Do your best!
